Morrison Foerster Partner Nathan Taylor Testified Before House Financial Services Committee on Financial Privacy
Rayburn House Office Building
Morrison Foerster Data, Cyber + Privacy partner Nathan Taylor testified before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services at a congressional hearing, titled “Updating America’s Financial Privacy Framework for the 21st Century.”
The hearing examined proposed legislation to modernize Title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, a federal law governing financial institutions’ privacy and data security obligations. As financial services continue to evolve in an increasingly digital ecosystem, policymakers are considering how the United States’ financial privacy framework should adapt to new technologies and cybersecurity risks. In his testimony, Nathan told the Committee, “I believe that the GLBA has stood the test of time, providing consumers with meaningful control over the disclosure of financial information to nonaffiliated third parties.” His testimony contributed legal and practical perspectives to the Committee’s discussion of the need to update the United States’ financial privacy framework.
Nathan is widely recognized as an authority on financial privacy issues and helps financial institutions and other companies develop practical solutions for complying with privacy and data security laws.
